Montego Bay’s Hip Strip has just about every kind of nightlife you can imagine — from upscale lounges overlooking the Caribbean Sea to proper bruk-out dancehall parties that go until the early morning.
That’s one of the things I love about nightlife in Montego Bay. Locals and visitors party together, and depending on the night, you can find dancehall, reggae, hip-hop, R&B, live performances, beach parties and everything in between.
But if you’re visiting and don’t know where to go, the more important question is:
What’s the best place to party each night of the week?
I’ve been around Montego Bay for a long time, and while clubs and parties come and go, certain nights have become staples.
Here’s how I would plan a night out in Montego Bay.
Local tip: Montego Bay nightlife changes quickly. Always check a venue’s current website or social media before heading out, especially for special events, guest DJs and performances.
Thursday Night: Ladies Night at Margaritaville
Thursday night belongs to Margaritaville Montego Bay.
Margaritaville has been one of the staples of Montego Bay nightlife for as long as I can remember, and Thursday remains its famous Ladies Night.
The current schedule has doors opening at 10:00 PM, with women receiving free admission before midnight. The main level leans toward authentic dancehall, while the upper level mixes Top 40 and island music.
It’s tourist-friendly, but you’ll also find plenty of Jamaicans there.
And Margaritaville isn’t just a nightclub.
During the day, it’s a restaurant and entertainment spot directly over the Caribbean Sea, with water activities and inflatables. At night, the atmosphere completely changes as ClubVille, its multi-level open-air nightclub, takes over.
Best for: Thursday night, first-time visitors, groups and anyone looking for a big, accessible Hip Strip party.
Friday Early Evening: Games Night at Saxby’s on the Strip
Friday is one of the biggest nightlife nights in Montego Bay, but there’s no reason to wait until midnight to start.
I like beginning the evening at Saxby’s on the Strip on Instagram, a laid-back beachside spot at the Casablanca Beach Hotel on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard.
Friday is Games Night, running from around 7:00 PM until midnight.
It’s a completely different atmosphere from the nightclub you’re heading to later. Grab some drinks, play games, listen to music and enjoy the Caribbean Sea while the rest of Montego Bay is getting ready to go out.
Saxby’s generally has a nice mix of reggae, soca and dancehall, and the beachfront setting makes it an easy place to start the night.
Then, as midnight approaches, it’s time to move.
Best for: Starting Friday night early, games, drinks, music and warming up before Pier 1.
Friday Late Night: Pier Pressure at Pier 1
If it’s Friday night in Montego Bay, one answer has remained consistent for years:
Located on Howard Cooke Boulevard closer to downtown Montego Bay, Pier 1 is a waterfront restaurant, bar and entertainment venue overlooking the harbour.
Every Friday, Pier 1 hosts its long-running Pier Pressure party. The venue itself describes Friday as the night to party there, and Friday hours currently extend until 4:00 AM.
What makes Pier 1 fun is the mix.
You’ll find locals and tourists partying together, rather than feeling like you’re at an entertainment night created exclusively for resort guests. Expect reggae, dancehall and international hits in a big open-air waterfront setting.
Don’t rush there too early, though.
In my experience, Pier 1 really gets going closer to midnight.
That’s why Saxby’s and Pier 1 work so well together.
My Friday Night Plan
7:00 PM–midnight: Saxby’s Games Night → midnight onward: Pier Pressure at Pier 1
You get two completely different sides of Montego Bay nightlife in one evening — a laid-back beachside warm-up on the Hip Strip followed by one of the city’s classic late-night parties.
Best for: A classic Montego Bay Friday night, dancing, dancehall and a great mix of locals and visitors.
Saturday Night: Take Your Pick
Saturday is probably the easiest night to go out in Montego Bay because you have several good options.
My choices would generally come down to Lounge 2727, Margaritaville/ClubVille, or checking whether Pier 1 or another venue has a special event happening.
Lounge 2727 — My Favorite Montego Bay Nightclub
If you’re asking me personally where to go, Lounge 2727 is my favorite nightclub in Montego Bay.
It’s located at 3 Jimmy Cliff Boulevard directly on the Hip Strip and sits right over the Caribbean Sea.
The setting is hard to beat.
At night, laser lights shoot out toward the ocean while the sea breeze comes through the club and across the dance floor. When the place is packed, that breeze feels especially good.
The music generally leans toward dancehall, hip-hop and reggae, and you’ll find a mixture of locals and visitors.
Lounge 2727 is also associated with Island Strains, combining the nightlife experience with Jamaica’s legal cannabis culture for adults who are interested in that side of the island.
It’s stylish enough to feel like a proper lounge but still gets wild enough to feel like a Jamaican nightclub.
And it stays late. Current listings show Lounge 2727 open until approximately 3:00 AM Monday–Thursday and 4:00 AM Friday–Sunday.
Best for: Late nights, groups, birthdays, bottle service, hip-hop, reggae and dancehall.
Saturday at Margaritaville: Str8 Vybz Satdayz
Margaritaville is another strong Saturday option.
ClubVille currently hosts Str8 Vybz Satdayz every Saturday beginning at 10:00 PM, with DJs, drink specials and late-night dancing.
The club specializes in Top 40, hip-hop, dancehall and EDM, and its Montego Bay nightlife hours run as late as 4:00 AM on its major club nights.
If you’re visiting Montego Bay for the first time and want an easy, high-energy Saturday night right on the Hip Strip, this is one of the safest bets.
Sunday Afternoon: Doctor’s Cave Beach & Drinks at Saxby’s
Sunday doesn’t have to wait until nighttime to get started.
One of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday afternoon on the Hip Strip is to split the day between Doctor’s Cave Beach and Saxby’s on the Strip.
The two are neighbors, so you can spend practically your entire day on the water without having to worry about transportation.
Start at Doctor’s Cave Beach, one of Montego Bay’s most famous beaches, and spend a few hours swimming and sunning yourself in that beautiful Caribbean water.
When you’re ready for a change of scenery, head next door to Saxby’s on the Strip for drinks, music and a more social Sunday-afternoon atmosphere.
That’s what makes the combination work so well. You get the classic Montego Bay beach experience at Doctor’s Cave and then a laid-back waterfront spot for drinks without having to leave the area.
Take your time. Have a swim, get some sun, grab a drink, listen to some music and enjoy the Caribbean Sea.
Best for: A relaxed Sunday afternoon, beach time, drinks, music and spending the entire day by the water.
Then, when the sun starts going down, you can decide whether you’re ready to call it a day — or head toward Harbour City for Sunday Souls.
Sunday Evening: Sunday Souls at Harbour City
For something completely different from the Hip Strip club scene, check what’s happening at Harbour City Shopping Mall.
Sunday Souls is one of my favorite examples of local Montego Bay nightlife because the focus is old-school R&B rather than simply playing the newest dancehall records.
It’s an outdoor event and has brought in featured selectors and DJs, including well-known names such as Tony Matterhorn.
What I enjoy most is seeing just how much people still love the classics. When the DJ hits the right old-school R&B record, the entire crowd knows it.
Admission has traditionally been free, which means popular nights can get packed. If a notable DJ or selector is advertised, get there early because capacity is limited.
Best for: Old-school R&B, a local crowd and travelers who want to experience something beyond the normal tourist nightlife circuit.
Monday–Wednesday: Check Lounge 2727
If you’re in Montego Bay Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and wondering where everyone is, my default answer is usually:
Check Lounge 2727.
One reason 2727 has become such a dependable part of Montego Bay nightlife is that it operates throughout the week rather than relying entirely on Friday and Saturday.
Different nights have different promotions and themes, so check their current schedule before you go.
But when someone staying on the Hip Strip asks me, “Where can we go tonight?” 2727 is usually one of the first places that comes to mind.
Want a More Raw Dancehall Experience?
Not everyone wants an upscale lounge.
If you’re looking for something a little more raw, local and dancehall-heavy, check what’s happening at Brewery Event Place, located at 32 Jimmy Cliff Boulevard.
Brewery is an event-driven nightlife venue, so the experience depends heavily on what’s happening that particular night. Current listings describe late-night parties, DJs and dance-oriented crowds, with events sometimes running into the early morning.
This is where I’d send someone who tells me:
“I don’t want the tourist version. I want dancehall.”
Check the night’s promotion before going rather than simply showing up expecting the same experience every night.
Best for: Dancehall fans and visitors looking for a more local, party-forward atmosphere.
The View: Watch for Special Events and Performances
Another newer addition to Montego Bay’s entertainment landscape is DaView, a multi-level restaurant and entertainment venue.
This isn’t necessarily somewhere I’d tell you to blindly show up every night expecting a nightclub.
Instead, watch their event schedule.
When they’re hosting a major party or performance, that’s when it becomes interesting. The venue has hosted events involving major Jamaican artists, so it’s worth checking what’s happening during your visit.
If a big artist is performing while you’re in town, this could easily become the place to be that night.
Looking for Adult Entertainment?
Montego Bay also has adult nightlife.
Moods Dreams & Fantasies is a late-night gentlemen’s club located at 32 Jimmy Cliff Avenue.
This is adult entertainment rather than a conventional dance club, with dancers, a full bar, live entertainment, bottle service and VIP options. The venue currently advertises opening daily from 9:00 PM until 4:00 AM.
It’s somewhat tucked away compared with the big waterfront venues, which is part of its identity.
Best for: Adults specifically looking for a gentlemen’s-club experience.
So, Where Should You Go Tonight?
If you asked me to simplify Montego Bay nightlife into one week, I’d say:
Thursday: Margaritaville Ladies Night
Friday, 7 PM–midnight: Saxby’s Games Night
Friday after midnight: Pier Pressure at Pier 1
Saturday: Lounge 2727 or Str8 Vybz Satdayz at Margaritaville
Sunday afternoon: Find the beach and waterfront day-party vibe
Sunday evening: Check for Sunday Souls at Harbour City
Monday–Wednesday: Lounge 2727 is usually my first place to check
But don’t treat this as a rigid schedule.
Montego Bay nightlife changes constantly. A special event, visiting artist or major selector can completely change where everyone goes on a particular night.
Check the venue’s website or Instagram before heading out. Ask around. Look at the night’s flyers. And don’t be afraid to follow the crowd.
Staying on the Hip Strip Makes Nightlife Easy
One of the biggest advantages of staying around Jimmy Cliff Boulevard — Montego Bay’s famous Hip Strip — is having so much nightlife close to you.
You can spend the afternoon at the beach, grab dinner, go back to your room to shower and change, and then walk or take a very short taxi ride to some of Montego Bay’s best nightlife.
